I’m am in recovery right now, from a little thing called depression and anxiety disorder. I’ve had it all my life and experienced it’s lows many times in my 37 years on this earth. After this last meltdown of sorts, I’ve been thinking about so many things, and working through so many issues that keep me trapped in my current state of thinking. But as a result of my hard work and by opening up, I am now experiencing a total shift in my body, my mind, and my spirit. In my DBT group, we call it "turning the mind." It means that you start to see the world with new eyes, through a child’s eyes. It’s a change in perspective about your reality, past, future, death, existence, or whatever it is you ponder deeply about.

Clinical depression manifests itself with anxiety, eating disorders, insomnia and sadly, even suicidal tendencies, making it a very serious affliction for millions of sufferers. There are many forms of treatment if you suffer from depression. Read on for some ideas on how to help yourself get past your depression.

You may believe you can handle depression on your own, but it’s important that you see a doctor for treatment. A doctor may pick up on something you say, or something they see in your that can help them determine the best treatment.
