Quoting Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum | Boeing B-29 Superfortress "Enola Gay":

Boeing’s B-29 Superfortress was the most sophisticated propeller-driven bomber of World War II and the first bomber to house its crew in pressurized compartments. Although designed to fight in the European theater, the B-29 found its niche on the other side of the globe. In the Pacific, B-29s delivered a variety of aerial weapons: conventional bombs, incendiary bombs, mines, and two nuclear weapons.

On August 6, 1945, this Martin-built B-29-45-MO dropped the first atomic weapon used in combat on Hiroshima, Japan. Three days later, Bockscar (on display at the U.S. Air Force Museum near Dayton, Ohio) dropped a second atomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. Enola Gay flew as the advance weather reconnaissance aircraft that day. A third B-29, The Great Artiste, flew as an observation aircraft on both missions.

When you feel depressed, it can be hard to do much of anything, as you feel drained of energy. While it is hard to beat depression, it can be done. This article is filled with tips you should think about applying to your situation if you feel depressed. It will take some time and effort to conquer this disease, but it is a possibility.

See a physician if your depression negatively interferes with your life. Your doctor may refer you for counseling and may also write a prescription for anti-depressants. Both of these options can help brighten your life.

Do not use the words “depression” or “depressed” in your vocabulary. Although your depression is very real, the word carries negative connotations that can increase your symptoms. Forget depression; call it a bad mood instead and reclaim the authority that’s rightfully yours in the first place. It’s not as difficult to think about changing your mood as it is to conquer “depression” even though the two things are really the same.

One secret to controlling your depression to be constantly aware of the fact that you do in fact guide and influence your own thinking. Don’t refer to yourself as depressed, not even in your own thoughts. Using a word with such negative connotations can affect your thinking and, thus, your moods. Remember, words have power, and depressed is an extremely powerful word. Use phrases like “feeling poorly”, or “not my best”, to take away some of the power from your emotions.

Try to remain positive about all the obstacles life throws at you and you’ll have a great shot at beating depression. This is imperative because having a positive frame of mind will put you in the position best suited for dealing with problems as they arise.

Find people you can hang out with. Going out and having fun can help you get over your depression, so make as many attempts as you can to do so. Taking this positive step can often help lighten your mood.

Self help books can be immensely beneficial in battling depression. You will find useful tips and insight into depression from professionals or people who have suffered from it too. They may encourage you to embrace a new hobby or get past your patter. You can check one out at the library or buy your own copy at the bookstore.

Understand the causes of depression and how it relates to your life. Depression is not only mental, but it is physical too. When you have experienced anxiety and stress for an extended time, your brain’s serotonin levels can be depleted. Lowered serotonin can cause or increase depressive feelings. Anti-depressants are often prescribed for depression, as they can encourage the brain to make extra seratonin. Natural serotonin raising methods do exist. Make sure you get an adequate amount of sleep every night, regular exercise and eat a diet that is balanced and healthy. Also be sure to avoid caffeine.

Be sure to eat well and healthfully when in a slump. When you’re depressed, you often lose your appetite; however, not eating enough causes you to become more depressed because your motivation and energy levels will decrease. By not consuming enough calories on a daily basis, your body won’t be functioning right. Eating regular meals gives your body the energy it needs.

Recovery

If you have been going through depression, you most likely are a homebody and tend to be withdrawn from the things you used to love, and also the people in your life. You should actually behave in an opposite manner in order to feel better. While recovering, you need positive people around you, and you need to do things that you love.

You can make a huge dent in lifting your depression by following the advice given in this article. Make sure if you make changes in your life you do so slowly so that you can see what is really helping you and what really didn’t make much of a difference.
