Dramatic Before & After Picture of depressed woman treated w nutritional therapy, Joan Larson, PhD

fatnews.com Hi, this isLarry Hobbs @ FatNews.com. Joan Mathews Larson PhD is the author of “7 Weeks to Sobriety” and “Depression-Free Naturally”. She has been treating people for drug and alcohol problems with nutritional therapies since 1980. She found that just about everyone who walked through their door had anxiety and depression, so she started treating that as well. She points out that drug and alcohol problems are the result of biochemical glitches that cannot be solved with Talk Therapy such as Alcoholic Anonymous. This video clips shows a dramatic Before and After picture of a woman, Mary, who had been treated for 14 years with psychiatric drugs such as antidepressants, and had spent time in psychiatric wards and tried Talk Therapy, but it had failed. The amazing After picture shows Mary 6 months after she had gone through Dr. Larson’s treatment center. 74% of alcoholic patients who came through her clinic were still sober and emotionally stable 3.5 years later compared to only 5-7% of people trying to treat their alcohol problems with Talk Therapy such as Alcoholic Anonymous. Talk therapy programs such as 12-Step Programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) cannot possibly fix biochemical problems that cause anxiety and depression as well as drug and alcohol problems (alcoholism). The only way to fix these problems is with nutritional repair. The drug companies / pharmaceutical companies want to give psychiatric drugs such as antidepressants and antipsychotic
Video Rating: 4 / 5

  1. If you want more information about psychiatric drugs, send me an email to

    larryshobbs [at] gmail [dot] com

I will send you an interview that Dr. Mercola did with Robert Whitaker.

I pulled out about 40 highlights from this interview about problems with these drugs.

I will send you a video segment from the TV show 60 minutes talking about how antidepressants are ineffective for mild to moderate depression.

I will send you information about how money has infected all drug research

A schizophrenic emailed the other day & said he has heard voices for the last 4 years, & he was on 10 psychiatric drugs, but still has the voices.

Modern medicine has lost it’s mind by giving someone 10 drugs & thinking they can possibly solve the problem.

Doctors have to wake up to the terrible problems they are causing with these drugs.

Please read Joan Mathews Larson, PhD’s website at joanmathewslarson [dot] com.

Nutritional therapies is the answer, NOT drugs or talk.

In 2011, my father had open heart surgery.

My mother felt so terrible, that she tried to admit herself to the hospital.

The hospital would not admit her, and FAILED to recognize the problems were drug-induced side effects, but instead told her to just double the dose of the Wellbutrin she was taking.

What an idiotic thing for a doctor to tell my mother, advice that could have ended in tragedy.

  4. (continued)

Another psychiatrist told my mother, “You have Generalized Anxiety Disorder”.

My mother had drug-induced anxiety from the drug she was giving her, but this psychiatrist was BLIND to this.

My mother’s doctor, who my mother loved, suggested to my father that my mother might benefit from an intensive talk therapy program.

This doctor was also BLIND to the fact that my mother was feeling terribly depressed from the drugs that she was giving her!

  5. I don’t doubt that you believe that you have helped patients and they have been helped by drugs.

My mother’s doctors believed the exact same thing.

They were completely BLIND to drug-induced side effects.

They were BLIND to the fact that EVERY problem my mother had over the last 17 years of her life was due to drug-induced side effects.

One psychiatrist asked my mother, “Why are you so anxious?”

The anxiety was a drug-induced side effect from the very drugs he was giving her!

  6. Please read Dr Larson’s book

    Please read Robert Whitaker’s book.

Please read David Healy, MD’s book Pharmageddon and his blog at davidhealy [dot] org

Dr Healy is the one who discovered that SSRI’s INCREASE the risk of suicide.

    This happened to my mother

After her psychiatrist increased her dose of Effexor in 2008, she spiraled downhill and ended up in the hospital feeling suicidal.

Two days after the drug was reduced, my mother was fine!

We have been lied to about these drugs

there are some very ethical doctors psychiatrists and therapists who do a great job and if you can’t acknowledge that and continue with a fear campaign then you aren’t being very truthful. I am no advocate for using medication for anything, but I have had many clients who turn their life around dramatically. I don’t have time to take photo’s I am too busy doing my job. Like I say no one can help somebody if they are dead and I have a number of clients who medication has saved their life.

  8. RoosterMcBlurter Reply March 7, 2013 at 2:29 am

Hi Larry it seems you are using your experience to then judge everyone’s experience by it. Is it a physical disease, a psychological disease or a spiritual disease? I know many many people who AA has been a saviour. AA don’t so research so it would be hard to see how they have such evidence, and even so it still does work for 4%! Antidepressants have also helped people stop killing themselves.

  9. I also encourage you to watch the documentary “Bill W” about Bill Wilson, the founder of Alcoholics Anonymous.

He talks about that he suffered from anxiety and depression his entire life.

This is EXACTLY what Dr Larson talks about.

It also reveals that when he took large doses of niacin, his anxiety & depression lifted.

At the end of the movie, they tell how on his death bed, he was trying to manipulate people into giving him alcohol.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk the cravings away.

    Larry Hobbs

  10. If I remember correctly, confidential documents from Alcoholics Anonymous reveal that AA has a 96% failure rate, that is 96% of people are drinking after a few years.

People need to admit that it does not work.

Doctors and “addiction specialist” like Dr. Drew Pinsky needs to open their eyes to what Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been doing for more than 30 years.

We got to stop this insanity of using all of these drugs and thinking that it is doing any good.

    Larry Hobbs

  11. I would like for any doctor who has treated depressed people with drugs to show me a Before and After picture of someone they have given drugs to that is as dramatic as the before an after picture that Dr. Larson shows in this video clip.

The Before picture in this video looked very much like my mother who had been given psychiatric drugs for 40 years.

It was a huge mistake, and only caused my parents tremendous suffering and ultimately resulted in their premature death.

    Larry Hobbs

  12. It is IMPOSSIBLE to cure a physical disease by talking about it.

If I remember correctly, confidential documents from Alcoholics Anonymous reveal that after a few years, only 4% of people are not drinking.

This is a 96% failure rate

If you read Robert Whitaker’s book “Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs, and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America”, he notes that researchers realized that antidepressants turn a short term problem into a chronic problem.

    L Hobbs

  13. My mother was given psychiatric drugs for 40 yrs

    It was a disaster.

Both my parents died 5-10 years prematurely as a result of these drugs.

My mother’s doctors were BLIND to the tragedy that they caused with these drugs.

All the doctors my mother saw said the answer was more drugs.

    It was insane.

You must read Dr Larson’s book

You must read Robert Whitaker’s book “Anatomy of an Epidemic: Magic Bullets, Psychiatric Drugs, and the Astonishing Rise of Mental Illness in America”

There are many therapists and naturopaths who have been treating depression and addiction naturally for many many years. There is no way you can claim that AA or NA don’t work as thousands of people have managed to stop using from these programs. i think the claim that these things don’t work is very misleading and may be detrimental to some people who access these videos.

  15. RoosterMcBlurter Reply March 7, 2013 at 5:17 am

I have worked in the drug field for 20 years,I was wondering how do you explain those people who have managed to stop using and stopped being depressed after having had counselling gone to AA or NA or after pharmacotherapy as there are lots of people who have! From my experience everyone is individual and all have different needs. The cause of these issues vary greatly. yes what you offer may also help some people but please don’t claim that others things don’t work as that is very misleading.

  16. These pictures are NOT 6 months apart.

The AFTER picture is 6 months after treatment, however, the BEFORE picture may have been taken several years before going to see Joan Mathews Larson, PhD.

Note that this woman was given various drug treatments for 14 years, so the BEFORE picture was simply taken at some time during that when she was ill and long before she ever went to see Dr. Larson.

    Larry Hobbs

  17. Thank you for sharing your story.

Very interesting that it took you 4 years to recover.

Both Tranxene and Ativan are benzodiazepines.

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has said it is very difficult to get people off of these drugs.

She has said that these drugs seem to change something in the brain.

I am glad to hear that you recovered.

    Larry Hobbs

  18. I think they need to explain the picture is of her now, rather than 6 months after the treatment, hair does not grow that fast in 6 months, apart from that it is an excellent

  19. I totally believe the video, I two was on prescription drugs, Tranexine and Activan for over 8 years because my doctor said I needed them, at a later stage he actually said I would need them for life. I was so ill from them, even trying to reduce made it worse, but eventually I took myself off them, it was 4 YEARS of hell, as I recovered, all the symptoms got worse, but I did it, without help. that was 30 years ago, I never trust a doctor again.
Marys hair could not grow that fast in 6 months.

  20. The bottom line is psychiatrist only care about themselves and not their patients. Psychiatrist’s would go out of business, I call it business because that’s what it is. They are paid mega bucks by the hour, drugs and medical treatments.
The cure is try eating a vegan diet for 3 months…raw juice everyday is the answer.

  21. I encourage you to watch all the videos of Joan Mathews Larson, PhD. She is the best of the best. She also has a book “Depression-Free Naturally”. She has been treating people without drugs for 32 years. You can also find tons of useful info on her website, JoanMathewsLarson [dot] com. Larry Hobbs

I suspect that TPTB are trying to create an army of apathetic robots devoid of human emotion such that any opposition will be dissipated by an increasing population of said robots in western society. 😛
I’m not sure to what extent I’m joking. I often wish I could just be a cyborg– I can’t identify with most of the human range of emotion anymore. Probably something to do with being on antidepressants for almost all of 14 years (minus attempts at stopping..) and some other stuff for about 10..

  23. Yes, amazing. If anyone wants a screenshot of these Before and After pictures side-by-side to show their doctor or psychiatrist or family or friend with anxiety and depression to show them what is possible with orthomolecular medicine, you can email me at larryshobbs[at]gmail.com and I will send it to you. Every doctor treating depression with drugs should watch this. Their eyes would be opened. Larry Hobbs

  24. my god amazing

  25. Anyway, I think it’s worth a shot reading, researching and trying vitamins on top of whatever else you’re doing now. Try to eat cleaner, when you’re able. It takes a while to hit on what works for you, but I feel so much stronger now. And I think I’m mostly recovered from the drugs I had taken over the years. It’s a process, but if me and others can do it, why not you too? Much luck on your journey.

  26. I believe it´s Summertime from Gershwin.

@NiggerAreDumbAnimals You’re completely idiotic. We all live on the same planet with the same diseases and we can all get AIDS and other diseases even if they’re more common in Africa.

  28. I am blessed to be raised in this era.

  29. My great grandfather made it by becoming a gangster

  30. Thanks im doing an extra credit assignment on the south in the 30’s. This was a great help!

Check out the great YOUTUBE music video “HOT TIME IN THE HOT CITY” – documenting the absolutely amazing history of Black Baseball in Hot Springs, Arkansas – from the 1880’s to 1950’s. Nearly all the immortals were there – Rube Foster, Pop Lloyd, Oscar Charleston, Satchel Paige, Cool Papa Bell, Jackie Robinson, Larry Doby, Monte Irvin – right up to Hank Aaron, in the “Negro Leagues World Series”. Great story. Great imagery. Great New Song.

  32. Re: your question “why there was segregation” — I’m not sure, but have guesses:

There was widespread thinking that Blacks were “inferior” (unclear on meaning — ability, manners, dirty?), but that does offer a real explanation of separation, such as why or what are benefits of that policy.

It could be an over-riding sense of some persons’ insecurity & supposed need to feel more power & authority over others.

It’s a shame that Democrats introduced those policies after the Civil War.

  33. “Summertime” by George Gershwin from Porgy and Bess.

  35. Someone please tell me what the song is from around 2:40?!

  36. It is a real shame that African Americans were treated like that. What strong people they are. We could all learn a lot from their suffering.

  37. man if only segregation still existed… the world would be a much better, safer place today hands down

  38. A medley of Gershwin’s music. Rhapsody In Blue, Porgy And Bess, Slaughter On Tenth Avenue….
